About Me
My name is Sophay Duch, but please feel free to call me Pai. I’m a Khmer-American, first-generation immigrant, born in Battambang, Cambodia and raised in Echo Park, Los Angeles. My family are genocide survivors who left our homeland in search of safety, and we were welcomed by a warm, multicultural community in L.A. I was deeply nourished by my Latino familia, the Duartes, and my Southeast Asian peers, all of whom have profoundly shaped my values, sense of purpose, and how I practice therapy.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW California #99584, Oregon #L15816) with a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. My focus has always been on helping others in vulnerable times, beginning my career as a Medical Social Worker, where I supported older adults and their families during end-of-life transitions.
Now, as a somatic trauma psychotherapist, I weave Cambodian healing traditions into my practice, embracing a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to mental health care. I believe strongly in each person’s innate capacity to heal, and I’m here to help guide that process in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to you.
Beyond my therapeutic work, I also offer training and consultation, with a special focus on grief support and trauma recovery. I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and uncovering their unique path to healing.
I’ll also be offering psychedelic-assisted therapy support. This step is part of my commitment to decolonizing wellness practices and reconnecting with plant medicine and traditional healing. I’m excited to support deeper healing and empowerment for those seeking alternative paths to well-being. I look forward to getting to know you.
